Mentoring, Training & Presentations

Mentoring

I am frequently asked to provide advice on livestock health and disease. I love sharing the experience and knowledge I have gained through 37+ years as a veterinarian focused on farm animal health and believe there is room for many great veterinarians, livestock advisors and other industry personnel.

Over the years I have had many mentors who have helped me grow in my career. I have found that it pays to invest in yourself and your skills.

My mentoring packages are flexible. I offer casual hourly sessions as well as monthly packages, with no lock in contracts.

I believe that the mentor-mentee relationship is vital to success. We will both need to determine that we are a good fit.

People that I work with include:

  • Veterinarians

  • Students

  • Livestock advisors

  • Rural Research & Development Corporation employees

  • Farmers.

Training

My broad education and training experience includes teaching and training veterinary students, veterinary nursing students, farm industry personnel, abattoir personnel and veterinarians.

My training services include:

  • Training in infectious diseases of farm animals to farmers, advisors and veterinarians

  • Training in Emergency Animal Disease preparedness and response to farm animal industry personnel

  • Training in research project design, implementation and management.

Training can be delivered in-house, at your business or online.

Presentations

Managing farm animal health can be complex. There are many factors to consider, including:

  • the disease challenge and its pathogenesis

  • the welfare of the animals

  • the genetics of the animals

  • how the animals are managed

  • environmental challenges

  • the products the animals produce

  • the treatment and control options available

  • economics.

I have been told that I am highly skilled at presenting this complex information in a way that makes it easy for others to understand.

Presentations can be delivered at workshops, field days, conferences or online.

I would like to thank you for presenting at the MINTRAC Inspection and Quality Assurance Conference. Your presentation on ‘Bacterial arthritis/polyarthritis in lambs’ certainly gave us a good insight into the intriguing connection between arthritis and tail docking. I would also like to thank you for the effort you put into your presentation both in terms of the quality of the presentation and ensuring the material was relevant to our delegates. The conference feedback from delegates on your presentation was very positive and so once again thanks for your efforts and hopeful you will be able to come and present for us again. ~Mr Clive Richardson, National Meat Industry Training Advisory Council Limited
